February is almost upon us, and that means it will be time to change my header moth. February’s moth is going to be the Dysphania percota, or Blue Tiger moth.

The Messengers

In folklore and mythology herons are frequently seen as messengers. They can also symbolize a change in luck.

I painted this piece for my holiday card this card this year, and it was a bit of a change of pace, being all traditional media instead of mostly digital. I bought a set of Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay india inks earlier this year, and I’d been looking for an opportunity to do a complete painting with them. They’re very similar to working with watercolors.
